Author to lead feng shui tour

Author to lead feng shui tour

Volcano Garden Arts presents a feng shui garden tour and book signing by Clear Englebert from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday, March 18. There is no charge for the tour and copies of Englebert’s newest book, “Feng Shui for Hawaii Gardens,” will be available for sale.

A nationally acclaimed feng shui teacher and consultant, Englebert uses the grounds and buildings of Volcano Garden Arts to explain the principles of landscaping and maintaining your tropical garden to create positive energy in the home. The garden, he notes, is the first and best opportunity to invite good energy, balance a home in its surroundings and protect it from harsh or threatening energies.

Englebert explains, paying attention to feng shui outdoors can be as critical as applying feng shui inside the home: “Exteriors are just as important as interiors in feng shui, and once you’re outside, anything can happen. Many feng shui concerns influence how to landscape, including where and what to plant.”

Harper named officer of month

The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Officer Jami Harper as “Officer of the Month” for March in a luncheon ceremony on Wednesday at Huggo’s restaurant in Kailua-Kona.

Harper was honored for his investigation of car break-ins, resulting in the arrest of a male suspect for 15 offenses.

From a description of the person seen breaking into one of the cars, Harper suspected it was a man he had arrested in the past. His thorough investigation confirmed that this man was the same person responsible for an assortment of crimes. As a result, police were able to recover items the suspect had bought with stolen credit cards.

As “Officer of the Month,” Harper is eligible to become “Officer of the Year.” The Kona Crime Prevention Committee encourages community involvement in aiding police in West Hawaii.
